The Atlanta Region SCCA Points 5 event, held under high temperatures, saw thrilling competition across various classes, with several racers battling neck-and-neck for the top spots. Here are some of the most exciting highlights from the event:
C Street (CS)
The C Street class saw Wayne Walter continued his undefeated streak in his 2006 Honda S2000. Walter secured first place with a best time of 57.360 seconds, just 0.037 seconds ahead of Dean Richardson, who clocked in at 57.397 seconds. Ben Credle, also in a Honda S2000, took third with a time of 58.718 seconds, further demonstrating the competitiveness of the class.
E Street (ES)
The E Street class featured a close battle between Allen Joiner and Ryan McGinnis, both driving Mazda Miatas. Joiner finished first with a best time of 57.451 seconds, narrowly beating McGinnis by just 0.231 seconds, who clocked a 57.682. Larry Ferrell, also in a Mazda Miata, came in third with a time of 59.875 seconds, showcasing the high level of competition in this class.
Street Touring Roadster (STR)
In the Street Touring Roadster class, Manny Matrille in a 2001 Mazda Miata took the top spot with a blistering time of 56.498 seconds. Shanna Richardson followed closely in her 2019 Mazda MX5 with a time of 57.021 seconds, just 0.523 seconds behind Matrille. Tim Maley, also in a Mazda Miata, finished third with a time of 57.838 seconds, making this class one of the most closely contested.
Classic American Muscle C (CAMC)
The CAMC class saw Brent Dixon in his 2014 Ford Mustang GT emerge victorious with a best time of 54.421 seconds. Kyle Mavis, driving a 2018 Ford Shelby GT350, was hot on his heels with a time of 54.930 seconds, a mere 0.509 seconds behind Dixon. Stephen Westbrooks rounded out the top three in his 2000 Ford Mustang with a time of 59.400 seconds.
Pro Class
The Pro class had a tight finish with Jordan Towns in a 2024 Mazda Miata taking the win with a best time of 54.163 seconds. Bryan Carbon in his 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was just 0.011 seconds behind, finishing with a time of 54.174 seconds. Dennis Sparks, also in a Mazda Miata, secured third place with a time of 54.393 seconds, making the Pro class one of the most exciting to watch.
