2025 Season Standings & Trophy Rules
We’re excited to post the updated season standings, where you can track your progress toward a year-end championship trophy. Below is a breakdown of how our championship points are awarded and how you can become eligible for a trophy.
Understanding the Points and Awards System
Points Eligibility Only current Atlanta Region SCCA members are eligible to earn points toward the season-long championship. Your points will be tallied based on your actual finishing position within your assigned class. Points are calculated using a performance-based formula: your score is determined by dividing the fastest time in your class by your best time, then multiplying by 100. This ensures every tenth of a second counts!
- 1st Place: 1000 points
- All other finishers: (Fastest time in class / Your time) * 1000
Trophy Eligibility To be eligible for a year-end championship trophy, you must compete in at least 40% (rounded up) of all available points events this season. The champion for each class will be determined by using the best finishes from 50% + 2 of the scheduled points events. For example, in a 10-event season, we will count your best 7 finishes (5 + 2 = 7). For an 11-event season, we’ll count your best 7 finishes (5.5 rounds down to 5, plus 2 = 7).
Trophy Distribution Trophies are awarded based on the number of eligible drivers in each class at the end of the season.
- 2-3 eligible entrants: 1 trophy awarded
- 4-6 eligible entrants: 2 trophies awarded
- 7-9 eligible entrants: 3 trophies awarded
- An additional trophy is awarded for every four additional eligible entrants (or a fraction thereof).
Rookie Class – Rookie Class is designed for drivers with less than a season of autocross experience. If you are new to the sport in 2025, we recommend you first attend at least two events as a Novice, then switch to the Rookie class to begin competing for points.
Rookie class standings will be determined by counting only your best three finishes throughout the season. This allows late-to-the-season drivers a shot at a podium, accounting for the possibility of missing events or starting as a novice.
Registering for the Rookie class is simple: when signing up on motorsportsreg.com, select your regular class and then add the “Rookie” modifier. Your season points will be recorded and published after each event.
Pro Class – The Pro class has its own specific rules for trophies and points. Points are calculated using the PAX index, and the standings are based on the best finishes from 50% (rounded down) of the season’s events. The top 50% (rounded up) of all eligible drivers in the Pro class will be awarded a year-end trophy. Only current Atlanta Region SCCA members are eligible to compete for these trophies.
Novice Classes Novice Class drivers do not earn points toward the championship. They are encouraged to transition to an open or rookie class after a few events to start competing for season points.
