Milliseconds Matter: Atlanta Region SCCA Points 2 Delivers Thrilling Autocross Battles
ATLANTA — The cones were flying and the times were dropping on March 8, 2026, as the Atlanta Region SCCA hosted its Points 2 (PTS 2) autocross event. With 144 registered drivers and 129 officially putting times on the board, competitors brought everything from daily drivers to purpose-built karts to thread the needle in this fast-paced form of precision driving.
While Dylan Brown set the day’s blistering top raw time of 47.083 seconds in a CRG kart, the real story of the weekend was the incredibly tight competition across the field. Here is a recap of the closest battles and standout victories across 10 of the day’s most exciting classes.
Pro Class (P) The Pro class, which pits 13 seasoned veterans against one another using indexed times, saw Nicholas Ognio take a commanding victory. Driving a 2022 Tesla Model 3, Ognio posted an index time of 41.453—the fastest index time of the entire event. However, the battle for the rest of the podium was an absolute nail-biter. Ryan Finch (2025 Hyundai Elantra N) narrowly secured second place with a 42.467, edging out David Nolan (2025 Porsche Cayman GTS) by a microscopic 0.065 seconds.
Rookie Class (R) Designed as a competitive stepping stone for drivers who have recently graduated from the Novice ranks, the Rookie class drew a healthy 10-car field. Kyre Mullaney drove a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata to a definitive win, posting a 43.828 to finish more than two seconds ahead of runner-up Stewart Cooper. Just behind them, the fight for third was fiercely contested, with Alexander Jordan beating out Kyle Broomfield by just 0.220 seconds.
G Street (GS) The 9-car G Street class delivered one of the most thrilling shootouts for the top spot. Dean Richardson piloted his 2025 Hyundai Elantra N to the win with a time of 52.502. But he had to earn every fraction of it, as Marko Horn crossed the line a razor-thin 0.059 seconds behind to take second place.
C Street Touring (CST) If G Street was close, C Street Touring was practically a photo finish. Ashley Tate captured the victory in a 2024 Toyota GR86, laying down a 55.500. Andres Santiago threw everything his 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder had at the course, but ultimately fell agonizingly short by just 0.039 seconds, settling for second.
Xtreme Street B (XB) James Walton secured a solid win in the 10-entry Xtreme Street B class with a 52.940 in his 1999 Subaru Impreza. But the true spectacle was the mid-pack logjam for the remaining trophy spots. The drivers finishing in fourth through seventh place were separated by mere fractions of a tenth, punctuated by Jason Spencer (54.543) edging out Jeremy McGinnis (54.547) for sixth place by an unbelievable 0.004 seconds!
C Street (CS) Wayne Walter not only conquered the 7-car C Street class in his 2006 Honda S2000, but his winning time of 50.937 also stood as the fastest raw Street-class time of the entire day. Behind him, the fight for the final trophy spot was intense, as Tim Maley squeaked past Mark Nacon for third place by a scant 0.051 seconds.
D Street (DS) Cullin Williams took top honors in D Street, driving his 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to a winning time of 52.500. The real drama unfolded in the race for second, where David Carroll (2023 Subaru BRZ) bested James Whittaker by just 0.121 seconds to secure the runner-up position.
H Street (HS) Richard Burge cruised to a decisive victory in H Street, posting a 55.087 in his 1999 Honda Prelude. The battle directly in his rearview mirror was much tighter, with Ryan Fletcher beating out Thomas Ramey for second place by a margin of only 0.102 seconds.
CAM Group (CAM) The roaring Classic American Muscle group featured seven drivers battling on index. Kyle Mavis muscled his 2018 Ford Shelby GT350 to the top of the podium with a winning time of 43.626. He was closely pursued by Juan Colmenero (43.944) and Brent Dixon (44.158), creating a highly competitive top-three shootout.
Whether seasoned pros or first-time novices, the Atlanta Region’s PTS 2 event proved once again that pushing a car to its limits in a safe, relaxed environment is the ultimate way to have #FunWithCars.
